网站描述：中国矿业大学是教育部直属的全国重点大学，是国家“211工程”和“985工程”“优势学科创新平台项目”重点建设的高校之一。学校设有研究生院。中国矿业大学的前身是创办于1909年的焦作路矿学堂，后改称焦作工学院。1950年，以焦作工学院为基础在天津建立了新中国第一所矿业高等学府——中国矿业学院。1952年，全国高等学校院系调整，清华大学、天津大学、唐山铁道学院采矿科系并入中国矿业学院。1953年，迁至北京，改称北京矿业学院，1960年被确定为全国重点高校。“文革”期间，迁至四川，更名为四川矿业学院。1978年，经党中央、国务院批准，在江苏省徐州市重新建校，恢复中国矿业学院校名，并再次被确定为全国88所重点高校之一。1988年，更名为中国矿业大学。1997年，经教育部批准设立中国矿业大学北京校区。2000年，划转教育部直属管理。
