网站描述：桂林，以山青、水秀、洞奇、石美闻名于世。1960年，桂林电子科技大学的前身----桂林机械专科学校就诞生在这个美丽的城市。学校先后更名为桂林机械工业学校、桂林无线电学校和桂林电子工业学院，先后隶属于第四机械工业部、电子工业部、机械电子工业部、中国电子工业总公司、信息产业部。2000年管理体制转为中央与地方共建，以地方管理为主，是广西重点建设的5所高校之一。2006年2月，教育部同意桂林电子工业学院更名为桂林电子科技大学。2008年3月，学校成为工业与信息化部与广西壮族自治区人民政府共建高校。
