网站描述：广州美术学院是广东省所属的一所美术与设计系科设置齐全的高等美术学府。始建于1953年秋，其前身是中南美术专科学校，由华南文艺学院、中南文艺学院和广西艺专的美术专业调整合并而成，原址在湖北武昌。1958年迁校至广州，同年8月更名为广州美术学院，并开始招收本科生。1969年与广州音乐专科学校、广东舞蹈学校合并为广东人民艺术学院。1978年2月恢复广州美术学院原有建制，并面向全国招收研究生。1982年具备硕士学位授予权，是全国首批取得硕士学位授予权的单位之一。1986年招收继续教育学生。1987年开始招收外国及香港、澳门、台湾地区学生。
