网站描述：湖南科技学院始建于1941年，前身为湖南省立第七师范学校，1954年春省立七师校址从道县搬至零陵区杨梓塘，1971年创办零陵地区师资培训班，1976年成立湖南师范学院零陵分院，1981年定名为零陵师范专科学校，2002年升格为全日制普通本科院校零陵学院，2004年更名为湖南科技学院。学校位于湖南省历史文化名城永州市，占地面积近1300亩，建筑面积42万余平方米，教学仪器设备总值9000余万元，图书馆藏书80余万册，固定资产总值4.5亿元。现有14个教学系，2个教学部，13个研究所，28个全日制普通本科专业，面向全国29个省（市、自治区）招生。现有全日制在校学生近12000人。校园内树木葱茏，碧草如茵，环境优美，是读书治学的理想园地。
