网站描述：皖南医学院是安徽省属普通高等学校。学校坐落在具有“徽风皖韵，千湖之城”美誉的国家级开放城市---芜湖。前身是创建于1958年的芜湖医学专科学校，1970年并入安徽医学院，1971年成立安徽医学院皖南分院，1974年经国务院批准独立建校，并命名为皖南医学院。学校是国务院学位委员会首批具有学士、硕士学位授予权的高校之一。1998年通过教育部本科教学工作合格评价；1999年通过省教育厅的本科教学评议；2002年通过省基础课教学实验室评估。
