Apple Announces First App Store Transparency Report: 1.78 million apps on shelves

In the settlement terms, Apple agreed to provide developers with data including the number of rejected applications, the number of banned developer accounts, the total number of current developer accounts, the number of applications deleted from the AppStore, and search queries and results.

According to this transparency report, IT Home summarizes the main information of AppStore in 2022 as follows:

  • Currently shared by AppStore1783232 modelsThe application is on the shelf.

  • Last year, a total of 6101913 applications were submitted.

  • 1679694 applications were rejected due to various reasons such as safety, performance, design, and legal issues.

  • The number of applications that violate a certain policy is 149378; The number of applications rejected for violating Design 4.0 and DPLA3.2 Fraud specifications is 32009.

  • In collaboration with Apple, developers modified the version that was released after being rejected to 253466.

  • 186195 applications were removed due to violating AppStore policies.

  • Most of the applications removed from the AppStore are games, followed by utilities, commerce, and education.

  • Developers have appealed a total of 18412 app deletions, while Apple has only restored 616 developer accounts. Apple stated that appealed applications are often removed from the AppStore due to fraud or illegality, which is why the number of rejected appeals is so high.

  • There are currently a total of 36974015 registered developers.

  • Apple banned 428487 developer accounts last year.

  • Apple banned 282036628 user accounts last year.
