IT Home reported on June 13th that according to evidence in the logs, Apple seems to be preparing a new iOS 16.5.1 update for the iPhone. It is currently unclear when the update will be released, but it is likely to be released this weekend or next week.

Small updates like iOS 16.5.1 typically focus on fixing bugs, improving stability, and security patches, rather than new features.

At present, it seems that Apple's Lightning to USB adapter may not work properly on iPhones running iOS 16.5, but this issue was resolved in the iOS 16.6 beta version last month, so it is highly likely that iOS 16.5.1 will also include the same fix.

Apple released the first beta version of iOS17 on WWDC last week. This update will be publicly released to iPhone XS and updated models later this year, and will bring many new features, such as standby mode during iPhone lateral charging, interactive home screen widgets, improved autocorrection, Journal application, and more.

Most importantly, developers of the Beta version no longer need to pay an annual membership fee of $99 (IT Home note: currently approximately 706 RMB) for the Apple Developer program.

Earlier this month, Apple revealed that 81% of all active iPhones are running iOS16, but with the release of iOS17 beta, this percentage will definitely decrease. Apple may release iOS17 around September, and the iPhone 15 series models will also be available. Stay tuned.
