Lei Jun Announces: The self-developed system, Pengpai OS, and Xiaomi 14 Launch to Replace MIUI

On October 17th, Mobile China noticed that Xiaomi's founder, chairman, and CEO; Chairman of Kingsoft Software; Angel investor Lei Jun officially announced that today is a historic moment for Xiaomi. Xiaomi's new operating system, XiaomiHyperOS, has been officially packaged. The Xiaomi 14 series, the first mobile phone equipped with a new system, has been delivered to the factory for production. From this moment on, Xiaomi Pengpai OS will gradually take over from MIUI.

According to information learned from mobile China earlier, MIUI14 will be the last official large version of MIUI, and there will be no so-called MIUI15 in the future. Xiaomi will directly launch its self-developed system. However, Xiaomi's self-developed system is not called MIOS, and its name is likely related to the word "surging".

On October 16th, Wang Hua, the general manager of Xiaomi Group's public relations department, revealed that Xiaomi's new self-developed system is not called MIOS or MiOS, and iOS is the ownership of the system name, so this naming is protected by law. Therefore, any naming that ends with this suffix will not receive legal support, and may even face legal risks of litigation infringement.

The Xiaomi 13 series will be released at the end of 2022, and currently, preparations are underway for the Xiaomi 14 series launch event. Qualcomm has announced that the 2023 Snapdragon Summit will be held from October 25th to 26th. The launch of the Xiaomi 14 series should be held after the Qualcomm Snapdragon Summit, perhaps on October 27th. The Xiaomi 14 series may have its first sale in this year's Double Eleven promotion.
