523 dollars! The cost of iPhone 15 Pro parts is exposed, and the supply chain in Chinese Mainland is marginalized

It's been a month since the release of the iPhone 15 series, and like the Huawei Mate60 series, everything that needs to be dismantled is almost done! According to a dismantling report by a Japanese research agency, the cost of components for the iPhone 15 series has been reported to be high.

For the high-end series, the component cost for the iPhone 15 Pro is $523, while the component cost for the iPhone 15 Pro Max is $558. Compared with the previous generation of products, it has increased by 8% and 12% respectively.

On the iPhone 15 series, the main highlights are the A17Pro processor, titanium alloy material, and a 5x zoom telephoto lens. Among them, the cost of the A17Pro is $130, the cost of the titanium alloy frame is $50, and the cost of the 5X telephoto lens is $30.

Perhaps it is because the cost of these components has increased, especially the iPhone 15Pro series, that the price of Apple's high-end iPhone 15Pro series has been raised, while the price of the standard version has not changed.

As we all know, the core components of a mobile phone are nothing more than a processor, screen, flash memory, baseband chip, battery, FaceID, security manager, imaging module, sensor, and so on. Unfortunately, China's supply chain has been "marginalized", what is the matter?

According to official data updates from Apple, there are a total of 186 manufacturers in the "Fruit Chain", covering the world. The number of Chinese supply chain manufacturers has reached 94, more than half. The number of supply chain manufacturers in Chinese Mainland has reached 49, ranking first.

But a large quantity does not necessarily mean value. From the BOM list, it can be seen that none of the core components of the iPhone 15Pro series are provided by Chinese supply chain manufacturers, and their value proportion is only 2%, almost negligible! The description of being "marginalized" may not be accurate enough. China's supply chain is at the lowest end of the "fruit chain", monopolizing dirty and tiring work, but unable to create core value. This is a cruel reality.

Many Chinese supply chain enterprises are eager to enter the "fruit chain" after breaking through, but often this is a "thankless" thing. To some extent, entering the "fruit chain" can give Chinese supply chain enterprises a brand, but profits are quite low, almost all of which are "squeezed" by Apple.

You should know that Apple, as the world's most profitable technology company, is not at all soft on supply chain companies. In the entire mobile phone market, Apple dominates 85% of profits, and other mobile phone brands can only "drink soup". As Apple's supply chain enterprise, it can only share a small amount of gross profit flowing from Apple's fingers, but faces cruel and fierce competition, which is completely unequal cooperation relationship.

Taking Oufeiguang as an example, after entering the "fruit chain", Oufeiguang gained fame and its market value also increased. But after being kicked out by Apple, overnight, the situation changed. In addition to experiencing a decline in performance, Oufeiguang's net profit also plummeted by 90% and almost went bankrupt. It is enough to prove that relying on Apple is not a good thing.

Another point, this report also indicates that China's supply chain still needs to work hard. It is precisely because it is at the "lowest end" that it is easier to be replaced. Imagine why Apple did not replace giants such as TSMC, Samsung, and Qualcomm?
