On Thursday, October 20th, artificial intelligence startup OpenAI announced that it will open access to the new image generator DALL-E3 to paid users and enterprise customers of ChatGPTPlus.

The DALL-E3 model has been integrated into ChatGPT. OpenAI stated that a security mitigation stack has been prepared for the model to support its extended version.

DALL-E3 was first released in September, and OpenAI showcased improvements based on DALL-E2, such as allowing users to use ChatGPT to provide longer and more intuitive descriptive prompts to provide information for image generators.

DALL-E3 has been added to Bing Chat and Bing ImageGenerator, making Microsoft the first public platform to introduce the model, even before ChatGPT.

However, the protective measures promoted in advertisements to reduce harmful images are not always effective. For example, a user generated an image of the World Trade Center where SpongeBob and other characters drove a plane into a building. Even if Microsoft blocked certain prompts, other simple alternative methods produced similar results.

Text to image generators similar to Midjournal, StableDiffusion, and older versions of DALL-E have also sparked similar controversy. These generators output materials of copyrighted images, unauthorized nude photos, distorted images of public figures, and even altered the race of the target object.

OpenAI promises to take broader measures and provide a website to showcase the research results of DALL-E3. The company stated that it will "limit the possibility of the model in generating content for artists and public figures in the world, and improve the diversity of human races in generating images.

OpenAI also has an internal "source classifier" tool, which is said to have an accuracy of 99% in detecting whether images are generated by DALL-E3. (Small)
