On October 30th, a document showed that the Group of Seven (G7) would agree on a code of conduct for enterprises to develop advanced artificial intelligence (AI) systems on Monday. Governments are currently working to reduce the risk of artificial intelligence technology being abused.

This document points out that considering the privacy and security risks that artificial intelligence may bring, voluntary codes of conduct will become an important milestone in the management of artificial intelligence in major countries.

In May of this year, at the ministerial forum called "Hiroshima Artificial Intelligence Process", leaders from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States, as well as the European Union, jointly launched this process.

The document mentions that the code of conduct has a total of 11 points, "aimed at promoting safe, reliable, and trustworthy artificial intelligence worldwide, and providing voluntary guidance for organizations developing the most advanced artificial intelligence systems (including the most advanced basic models and generative artificial intelligence systems).

In addition, the guidelines "will also help fully utilize the benefits of these technologies and address the risks and challenges that arise from them. It urges businesses to take appropriate measures to identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks in the artificial intelligence lifecycle, and to address abuse incidents and patterns after AI products are launched on the market.

Enterprises should publicly release reports on the functions, limitations, usage, and abuse of artificial intelligence systems, and invest in building strong security control systems.

The European Union is leading the way in regulating this emerging technology with its strict artificial intelligence laws, while Japan, the United States, and Southeast Asian countries adopt less intrusive approaches than the EU to promote economic growth.

Earlier this month, Vera Jourova, the head of digital affairs at the European Commission, stated at the Internet Governance Forum held in Kyoto, Japan that codes of conduct are a solid foundation for ensuring security. Until regulation is in place, it will serve as a bridge. (Small)
