Qualcomm's Snapdragon XElite comes in multiple versions, with four officially announced. Now, the Snapdragon XPlus has also received a second version, and it's been significantly stripped down.

The previous version of the Snapdragon XPlus, codenamed X1P-64-100, had its CPU cores reduced from 12 to 10, still with 42MB cache, but with a lower peak frequency of 3.4GHz and no dual-core acceleration support. The GPU performance dropped from 4.6TFlops to 3.8TFlops, while the NPU performance remained at a full 45TOPS.

The latest version, codenamed "X1P-42-100", further reduces the CPU cores to 8 and for the first time, cuts the cache to just 30MB. The core frequency remains at 3.4GHz. The GPU performance has been drastically reduced to just 1.7TFlops, which is only a little more than one-third of the Snapdragon XElite's full version. Thankfully, the NPU performance remains unchanged.

It's clear that this new version of the Snapdragon XPlus is not suitable for gaming and AI applications will experience significant slowdowns. It's only suitable for everyday use. However, it might be priced significantly lower.

It will appear in the ASUS VivoBook Pro15 laptop. Interestingly, ASUS's ProArt StudioBook 13 quietly used it two months ago, which means it has been around for a while.
