Recently, renowned digital blogger @DigitalChatStation has shared information about a new phone powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor. The device is said to feature a new substrate 2K straight screen with further optimized narrow bezels. The rear camera module is located in the top left corner of the back, housing three 5000-megapixel lenses, with a largely unchanged overall design. The engineering prototype is currently available in a "Rococo White" color scheme, with testing primarily focused on performance.

Previously, the blogger revealed that the engineering model boasts a metal frame and glass body, uses a new screen form factor, utilizes BOE's BOEX series substrate, supports LTPO technology, single-point ultrasonic fingerprint recognition, and high-level dust and water resistance. The current prototype is equipped with a triple 5000-megapixel camera system, likely consisting of a main camera, ultra-wide-angle lens, and telephoto lens. It could potentially retain the "Wanli Hanging Window" rear camera design from the iQOO 12. The battery capacity is expected to be around 6000mAh but will lack wireless charging.

Combining these leaks, the new device is likely to be the iQOO 13.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is rumored to adopt a full large core architecture, with a CPU clock speed exceeding 4GHz. Compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3's 3.3GHz clock speed, it is expected to offer a significant performance advantage in multi-core scenarios, potentially delivering a smoother and more immersive graphical processing experience.

However, this performance boost comes at a cost. Reports suggest that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip will be 25%-30% more expensive than the current Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. Due to the increased chip cost, industry insiders speculate that the iQOO 13 will prioritize battery life and screen performance, potentially offering only minor improvements in the camera department, or even seeing some features weakened.

For reference, the iQOO 12 launched last November with a starting price of 3999 yuan. The device features a 6.78-inch 1.5K straight screen with a maximum 144Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 3000 nits. It has a 16MP front camera and a triple rear camera system consisting of a 50MP main camera, a 64MP periscope telephoto lens, and a 50MP ultra-wide-angle lens, also equipped with a neural image computing engine. In terms of performance, the iQOO 12 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and features a self-developed esports chip, the Q1. It has a 5000mAh battery capacity with support for 120W super fast charging.

In comparison, the iQOO 13 is expected to upgrade its screen, unlock, and battery life, but may see a downgrade in its rear camera system. Wireless fast charging and satellite communication support may be absent.

Based on the anticipated release timeframe for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset, the launch of the iQOO 13 is likely to take place at the end of October. The starting price is estimated to be around the 4000 yuan mark.
