The latest data from market research firm Counterpoint Research shows that the European smartphone market continued to recover in the second quarter of 2024, with shipments growing 10% year-on-year. Western Europe saw an 8% year-on-year growth, while Central and Eastern Europe experienced a 12% year-on-year increase.

Samsung maintained its leading position this quarter, with shipments growing 8% year-on-year. The Galaxy S24 series continued to sell well in the region, while the latest generation of the A series also saw positive growth. Apple bounced back strongly with an 18% year-on-year growth, regaining market share. With the launch of the iPhone 16 series in the third quarter, Apple is poised to further solidify its position in the European market.

Despite facing competitive pressure in Central and Eastern Europe, Xiaomi's 41% growth in Western Europe effectively offset some of the decline. With an 18% market share, it secured third place in the market. Realme also achieved an 18% year-on-year growth in the region, securing the fourth spot with a 4% market share.

Notably, Transsion TECNO has been expanding its operations in Central and Eastern Europe, particularly in the Russian market. Its focus on mid-range price smartphones has made it the fastest-growing smartphone brand in the European market this quarter. With a massive 196% growth, Transsion TECNO reached a 4% market share, displacing Honor from the fifth position.

Here is a breakdown of the data:

| Brand | Market Share | Year-on-Year Growth |

|---|---|---|

| Samsung | 23% | 8% |

| Apple | 19% | 18% |

| Xiaomi | 18% | 18% |

| Realme | 4% | 18% |

| Transsion TECNO | 4% | 196% |

| Honor | 4% | -14% |

| Others | 28% | -4% |

The data indicates a gradual recovery in the European smartphone market, with continued growth in consumer demand for both high-end and mid-range phones. Brands like Samsung, Apple and Xiaomi, with their strong product competitiveness and brand influence, are leading the way in this market. Transsion TECNO, with its strong momentum in the mid-to-low-end market, is also emerging rapidly. In the future, the European smartphone market will continue to exhibit a diversified development trend, with more emerging brands joining the competition, leading to a more intense market rivalry.
