OnePlus Ace5 Series Incoming: Snapdragon 8 Gen3 & Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Gaming, Performance Meets Value
Recent leaks from digital blogger @DigitalChatStation revealed some key specs for the upcoming OnePlus Ace5 series. The new phones will boast a 6.78-inch 1.5K LTPO flat screen, utilizing the same BOE X2 substrate found in the OnePlus 13. A 16MP selfie camera will sit on the front, joined by a triple rear camera system 50MP main, 8MP secondary, and 2MP tertiary.
Under the hood, the OnePlus Ace5 series will utilize Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. Variations will include a 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB UFS 4.0 storage combo alongside a 6xxxmAh battery with 100W fast charging. The standard Ace5 is rumored to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, while the Pro variant will feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Gaming, expected to launch in Q4 of this year.
The OnePlus Ace5 Pro promises boosted performance, thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Gaming. This processor employs a 2+6 core configuration, with its two super-large cores clocking in at 4.32GHz. Compared to the standard 8 Gen 3, it boasts a 35% single-core performance jump and a 30% multi-core performance increase. Further enhancements include a new GPU frame interpolation technology, enabling game supersampling and high frame rate concurrency. Additionally, a new Hexagon AI processor significantly elevates the device's AI inference capabilities, improving experiences across voice assistants, photography enhancements, and more. The Snapdragon X80 5G modem and RF system are also included, delivering up to 10 times better 5G connectivity compared to traditional 5G, resulting in faster speeds and lower latency.
Price-wise, the OnePlus Ace5 Pro is anticipated to be a "more affordable" option within its chipset category. For reference, the current cheapest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Gaming phone, the Realme GT7 Pro, starts at 3599 yuan. With this in mind, the OnePlus Ace5 Pro's price is expected to fall between 3000-3500 yuan, though official pricing will be announced later.
For comparison, the OnePlus Ace3 Pro launched in July of this year with a starting price of 3199 yuan. It features a 6.78-inch OLED curved screen with a 27801264 resolution, supporting a 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate and 2160Hz high-frequency PWM dimming technology. It also features a 16MP selfie camera and a triple rear camera setup (50MP main, 8MP ultrawide, 2MP macro) with live photo capabilities. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, paired with a second-generation Tian Gong cooling system, a custom display chip, and support for 120Hz ultra-frames and 1.5K supersampling on various games. A 6100mAh Glacier battery with 100W fast charging and the SuperVOOC power management chip also accompany the phone, promising a full charge in just 36 minutes.
Overall, the OnePlus Ace5 series looks to offer strong value for money. However, with rising chip costs, it remains to be seen how the final price will reflect this. Stay tuned for official announcements.
