Last month, the official release of MediaTek's Dimensity 9400 processor triggered a wave of upgrade demand. Following closely, the specifications of MediaTek's mid-range processor, Dimensity 8400, have gradually surfaced, attracting widespread attention within the industry.

According to digital blogger @DigitalChatStation, the Dimensity 8400 adopts a 1+3+4 Cortex-A725 full-core architecture design, with CPU frequencies of 3.xGHz, 3.xGHz, and 2.xGHz respectively. It also features the same GPUIP as the Dimensity 9400. The blogger previously revealed that the Dimensity 8400's theoretical benchmark score is between 170-180W, outperforming the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2's 160W but slightly lagging behind the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3's 200W.

For reference, the Dimensity 8300 utilizes TSMC's second-generation 4nm process technology, based on the Armv9 CPU architecture. Its eight-core CPU comprises 4x 3.35GHz Cortex-A715 performance cores and 4x 2.2GHz Cortex-A510 efficiency cores. Compared to the previous generation processor, the Dimensity 8300 boasts a 20% increase in peak performance and a 30% reduction in peak power consumption. Additionally, the Dimensity 8300 integrates a 6-core Mali-G615 GPU, with key optimizations for floating-point operations, triangle generation, and mixed output capabilities. It supports flagship-level gaming technologies such as Vulkan 1.3, hardware ray tracing, and variable rate rendering. Compared to its predecessor, the Dimensity 8300's GPU peak performance has increased by 60%, while power consumption has decreased by 55%.

As the successor to the Dimensity 8300, the Dimensity 8400 is expected to achieve further optimization in terms of performance and power consumption. Digital blogger @DigitalChatStation also mentioned that the Dimensity 8400's benchmark score is still increasing, making it highly anticipated. This new processor focuses on cost-effectiveness and is anticipated to inject fresh energy into the mid-range smartphone market.

Recent leaks indicate that Xiaomi is actively preparing a new device powered by MediaTek's Dimensity 8400 chip, aiming for a launch before the year's end. A source found the Dimensity 8400 chip, identified as MT6897, within the code of Xiaomi's Surge OS, further corroborating the news. Following past trends, the Dimensity 8400 is likely to debut on the Redmi K80E.

According to digital blogger @DigitalChatStation, the Dimensity 8400 engineering sample's benchmark score falls between 170-180 million, significantly surpassing its competitor, the Snapdragon 8s Gen3 processor. The Redmi K80E is expected to feature a 6.67-inch 1.5K OLED screen, a triple rear camera system with a 50MP main sensor, up to 16GB of RAM, a 6000mAh battery, and 120W fast charging.

The Redmi K80 Pro model has also appeared on the network, with a 2K eye protection straight screen, ultrasonic fingerprint recognition, a metal frame, and a glass body, enhancing its overall aesthetics. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for the Galaxy Chip, equipped with a 5500mAh battery, and support 120W fast charging, unleashing its full performance potential.

As a reference, the previously released Redmi K70 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, with a 6.67-inch 32001440 Huaxing Optoelectronics C8 OLED flexible straight screen, supporting a 120Hz refresh rate. It features a triple rear camera system consisting of a 50MP main sensor (Light Catcher 800, 1/1.55", OIS), an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens (OmniVision OV08D10), and a 2MP macro lens (OmniVision SC202PCS).
