Seven weeks after the release of the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max, Apple this week expanded its Self-Service Repair program to include parts and tools for the iPhone 16 series in the United States and several European countries. This means users can now repair their new iPhones themselves without having to visit an Apple Authorized Service Provider or an Apple Store.

The repair parts offered by Apple include the display, battery, rear camera system, TrueDepth camera for Face ID, back glass, bottom and top speakers, main microphone, and more. Users can also rent a repair toolkit from Apple that includes all the necessary tools to perform the repair and is available for rent for seven days. The toolkit is compatible with all four iPhone 16 models and costs $49 in the US.

Previously, Apple released repair manuals for all four iPhone 16 models in September, providing users with detailed repair instructions. Now, by offering parts and tools, Apple further refines its Self-Service Repair program, allowing users to conveniently repair their devices themselves.

Apples Self-Service Repair program was launched in 2022, aiming to provide customers with access to genuine parts, tools, and manuals for repairing specific iPhone and Mac models as well as the Studio Display. The company states that the program is intended for individuals with experience repairing complex electronic devices.

Some repair manuals on Apples website come with warnings that outline important information, such as safety risks. Users should carefully read these warnings before performing repairs and ensure they have the necessary skills and experience to avoid causing damage to the device or personal injury.

Its important to note that while Apple offers Self-Service Repair, users should make sure they have the necessary skills and experience to perform repairs safely. If users are unsure about their ability to complete the repair, they are advised to seek professional help to avoid causing device damage or personal injury.
