On November 12th, IT Home reported that Apple analyst Guo Minghui has released the latest iPad forecast report. He believes that the main focus of Apple's iPad upgrades in 2024 will be on the M3 processor and OLED screen, which is already a cliche.
He predicts that Apple will upgrade a batch of iPads and launch new models in 2024, but the shipment volume is not small compared to the peak in 2022, with iPad shipments reaching 52-54 million units in 2024 (IT Home note: about 50 million units in 2023, about 63 million units in 2022).
IPadAir (Q1)
The new iPad Air will be mass-produced in the first quarter of 2024, at 10.9 inches and 12.9 inches, respectively.
Although the 12.9-inch iPad Air model is not equipped with a mini LED panel, it uses an Oxide oxide backplane (same as the non mini LED version of the iPad Pro specification), which can provide better display performance than the 10.9-inch model.
Two new OLEDiPadPro models are scheduled for mass production from the end of Q1 to Q2 2024
OLEDiPadPro will be equipped with an M3 processor and a more streamlined exterior design.
The OLED panel of the new iPad Pro adopts the same panel technology as the iPhone 15 Pro, which outperforms existing mini LED models in terms of display performance and power consumption.
Mass production will be postponed until the end of the first quarter to the second quarter of 2024 (compared to the initial plan for the beginning of the first quarter) due to production issues with OLED panel modules.
If the pricing of the new 10.9-inch iPad Air remains unchanged, and the new 12.9-inch iPad Air is definitely more expensive than the 10.9-inch model, then if Apple wants to maintain differentiation between the iPad Air and iPad Pro, it means that the new OLEDiPadPro may increase in price.
At present, the 2024 shipment forecast for OLEDiPadPro is about 6-8 million units, with a slightly weaker shipment momentum than the existing iPad Pro. It is speculated that the new OLEDiPad is more expensive, leading to more people considering the 12.9-inch iPad Air.
The mass production of the new iPadmini has been postponed to the second half of next year (previously predicted as 1Q24).
The new iPad (11th generation) has a production time of 2H24.
The ninth generation iPad is expected to be discontinued (EOL) by the end of 2024.
