On Wednesday, November 16th, a Mexican government official revealed that SpaceX's Star Chain Satellite Internet, led by Elon Musk, has received a contract worth 1.56 billion pesos (approximately $89.8 million) and plans to provide free internet services in Mexico by the end of 2026.
Carlos Emiliano Calderon, a digital strategy coordinator in Mexico, stated at a regular morning press conference that SpaceX won the contract because they offered the most favorable price in public bidding.
Calderon added that Mexico has signed contracts with nine companies, including SpaceX Chain, to provide free internet services.
According to relevant documents, SpaceX Star Chain will also provide infrastructure services to Mexican National Energy Company by December 2026.
It is reported that the contract value between SpaceX Star Chain and the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) of Mexico ranges from 887.5 million pesos (approximately $512.8 million) to 1.8 billion pesos ($104 million). (Chen Chen)
