IT Home reported on November 16th that according to a recent report released by Consumer Intelligence Research Partnership (CIRP),The weighted average retail price (US WARP) of iPhones in the US market fell again in the third quarter of 2023, from $948 in the previous quarter to $918.
Apple stopped publishing average selling price (ASP) information for iPhones in 2018, and CIRP's survey statistics are limited to the US market. However, it can be seen that the average selling price has decreased for two consecutive quarters.
In the September quarter of 2023, the US WARP was $918, lower than the $948 in the second quarter of 2023 and the high point of $988 in the first quarter of 2023.
IT Home previously reported that CIRP believes that model combinations and storage upgrades are the main reasons for the decline in US WARP, and Apple's pricing strategy has also led to the decline in WARP.
The sales percentage of the newly launched iPhone 15Pro and ProMax differs by several percentage points from the previous year's release of the iPhone 14 model. At the other end of the market, the proportion of the oldest traditional phones remains consistent.
The report believes that inflation has pushed up the prices of most products purchased by American consumers, but Apple's pricing of the iPhone has not changed since 2020, and the last price adjustment for the Pro model can be traced back to 2017.
In addition to economic pressure, what is more important for American consumers is that their buyer preferences have also changed, and they are no longer pursuing top of the line iPhone models.
