Google is accelerating its manufacturing efforts in India. Recently, the official Google India account on X platform published a post announcing the rollout of the first Pixel 8 phones manufactured in India, marking a significant milestone for Google in the Indian market.

Back in October 2023, Google announced plans to manufacture Pixel 8 series smartphones in India. In February this year, more production details emerged, indicating that Google would first establish a production line for the Pixel 8 Pro at a factory in southern India. Production of this high-end phone was scheduled to begin in the second quarter of this year. Subsequently, Pixel 8 models would be assembled at a factory in northern India by mid-year.

Sources revealed that Google set ambitious sales targets for the Pixel phones last year, aiming to ship 10 million units in 2024. To achieve this goal, Google has identified India as a critical production hub to cater to global market demands.

In July, reports surfaced that Google was collaborating with Indian electronics manufacturer Dixon Technologies to produce the standard Pixel 9. Meanwhile, the higher-end Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 XL would be manufactured by Foxconn's Indian factory. These Pixel phones produced in India are planned for export to the United States and the European Union, further expanding Google's global market share.

Google's decision to manufacture Pixel phones in India aims not only to reduce costs but also to capitalize on the fast-growing smartphone market in the country. India is the world's second-largest smartphone market, boasting a vast user base and rising consumer spending power.
