While Android flagship phones are rapidly adopting 100W fast charging, Apple iPhones have remained stagnant in this regard. Has the latest iPhone 16 Pro Max finally broken through? Sadly, the answer is no.

According to tests by iFeng, the iPhone 16 Pro Max can briefly reach a charging power of 33W under extreme conditions (low battery, high output + back clip cooling). This power output lasts for about 10 minutes, with a peak power of 38-39W. However, in real-world usage, the charging power stays below 27W, with almost no improvement compared to previous models. It takes 1 hour and 45 minutes to charge from 2% to 100%, a significant gap compared to the 10-minute charging times of some Android flagship devices.

Reports suggest that the iPhone 16 Pro Max uses the same charging hardware as its predecessor, supporting the same protocols in theory. This generation only unlocks the 15V voltage level. However, the actual charging performance has not improved significantly. This means Apple has not made any breakthroughs in charging technology, and users are forced to continue enduring slow charging speeds.

Although the iPhone 16 Pro Max can briefly reach 33W under extreme conditions, this "burst" is only a fleeting moment and doesn't change the slow charging speed in everyday use. Apple's conservatism in charging technology could become a significant disadvantage in its future competition.
