Unisoc Records Strong Growth, Matching Apple as the World's Third-Largest Smartphone Chip Provider
According to a recent report by market research firm Counterpoint, Unisoc's global smartphone chip market share reached 13% in the second quarter of 2024, successfully matching Apple's share and claiming the third position among global smartphone chip suppliers. This achievement signifies Unisoc's robust competitiveness in the global chip market and its successful entry into the ranks of industry leaders.
The report highlights Unisoc's remarkable 4 percentage point surge in market share compared to the previous quarter, whereas Apple experienced a 3 percentage point decline. This indicates Unisoc's strong momentum in the market competition, while Apple faces certain challenges.
Unisoc's 5G chips have achieved significant success in overseas markets, consistently enabling large-scale shipments for leading brands like Nubia, LAVA, HMD, and MOTO, as well as mainstream brands in local markets. With the rapid development of 5G technology, Unisoc's overseas market deployment has accelerated accordingly. Following the introduction of Unisoc's 5G chips to Europe, Latin America, and Southeast Asia last year, the company further expanded its presence to India, South Asia, and other regions in the first half of this year. Furthermore, vivo and Xiaomi's latest overseas smartphone launches are powered by Unisoc chips.
Beyond its success in overseas markets with 5G chips, Unisoc maintains a strong growth trajectory within the domestic market. In China, Unisoc has established stable partnerships with multiple renowned smartphone brands, providing high-performance, low-power chip solutions.
The report also reveals that MediaTek and Qualcomm remain in the top two positions with 32% and 31% market share, respectively, but the gap has narrowed considerably from 14% to 1% compared to the previous quarter. This indicates a shifting competitive landscape in the smartphone chip market, with Unisoc's emergence further intensifying competition.
Huawei HiSilicon's market share continues to rise, reaching 4% this quarter. Despite facing challenges in chip supply, Huawei HiSilicon's accumulated technological expertise still provides a competitive advantage in the market.
Overall, Unisoc demonstrates powerful growth momentum in the global smartphone chip market, successfully securing a leading position within the industry. Going forward, with the continuous advancement of 5G technology and the expansion of application scenarios, Unisoc will continue to invest heavily in research and development, enhancing its technical capabilities to deliver higher-quality chip products and solutions for users worldwide.
