October is approaching, and major manufacturers are releasing new phones one after another. iQOO 13 is also poised to launch, and recent leaks about it have been surfacing, attracting widespread attention.
iQOO product manager @GolangV released a Weibo post, announcing that iQOO 13 will be the first to globally feature BOE's (BOE Technology Group) latest generation of luminous materials, offering significant improvements in display effects, eye protection technology, outdoor brightness, and control experience. "In addition, there are two other black technologies, we will talk about them after the holidays." It is understood that compared to the previous generation, BOE's latest generation of luminous materials has a 12.5% global peak brightness increase, a 33% lifespan increase, a 10% power consumption reduction, and a color shift reduction of over 50% in extreme temperature environments.
In addition to breakthroughs in the screen, iQOO 13 will also be equipped with Qualcomm's latest flagship chip, built-in 6-series silicon battery, and support for 120W super flash charging. It is reported that Qualcomm's new flagship chip - Snapdragon 8Gen4, will be renamed Snapdragon 8Elite, and is expected to adopt a 2+6 core design, with two super-large cores clocked at 4.32GHz and 6 large cores clocked at 3.53GHz, a significant improvement over the previous generation Snapdragon 8Gen3's 3.3GHz.
In terms of imaging, iQOO 13 will adopt a 50MP Sony IMX921 main camera + 50MP Samsung S5KJN1 ultra-wide-angle lens + 50MP Sony IMX826 telephoto lens, supporting 2x optical zoom. Compared to iQOO 12, both the main camera and the telephoto lens have been downgraded, with the main camera downgraded from the OmniVision VCSOV50H sensor to the Sony IMX921, and the telephoto lens downgraded from the 64MP OV64B periscope lens to the 50MP Sony IMX826.
In terms of other configurations, iQOO 13 features a metal mid-frame + glass body, a 2K resolution OLED straight screen, supporting 144Hz LTPO refresh rate, single-point ultrasonic under-screen fingerprint, a large X-axis linear motor, and IP68 dust and water resistance.
It is reported that iQOO 13 will only launch a standard version, no Pro version, and the design will not change much from the previous generation.
In addition to hardware upgrades, iQOO 13 will also bring breakthroughs in software experience. Vivo officially announced that it will hold the 2024 Developer Conference on October 10th, where it will unveil OriginOS 5, based on Android 15, and its self-developed Lanhe operating system 2.
OriginOS 5 will focus on AI intelligent experience. The previous "atomic notification" has been upgraded to "atomic island", supporting drag-and-drop content to automatically match function entrances, making operation more convenient and efficient. Vivo will also implement the Blue Heart large model's system-level and scenario-based experience on OriginOS 5, covering multiple dimensions such as language, voice, vision, multi-modal, and edge, comprehensively upgrading the user's interaction experience with smart devices. In addition, various details animations have been added, doubling the silky smoothness, along with depth-of-field wallpapers, customizable lock screen widgets, one-take new lock screen wallpapers, centered dynamic island, and AI large model deep interaction.
Currently, OriginOS 5 has officially opened recruitment for internal beta testers, supporting multiple models including Vivo X series, iQOO digital series, and more. Interested users can give it a try.
In conclusion, iQOO 13 has upgraded in terms of performance and screen, but has made trade-offs in imaging, and may be positioned as a gaming flagship phone. The addition of OriginOS 5 will bring users a more intelligent user experience, so let's wait and see.
