China's Golden Week is always a peak season for smartphone sales, with various brands offering special deals. This year, many brands aimed to surpass the iPhone 16 series in sales. What were the results?
Industry insider "Wisdom Chip Guide" shared the sales data for Week 40 (September 30th - October 6th), revealing significant week-on-week growth across all brands. Overall sales surged by over 40%, but surprisingly, Apple did not secure the top spot.
According to the data, Huawei led with a total market share of 20.43%, with Huawei holding 17.82% and Huawei Smart Selection accounting for 2.61%. Vivo came in second with a total share of 17.33%, broken down as 12.57% for Vivo and 4.75% for iQOO. Xiaomi secured third place with a 17.27% share, followed by Apple at 14.53%. Rounding out the top six were Honor with 13.74% and OPPO with 13.68% (11.83% OPPO, 0.91% OnePlus, and 0.94% realme).
Interestingly, Huawei remained at the top even without considering Smart Selection, demonstrating the strong impact of the Huawei Mate XT Master Edition on overall sales. Notably, even when combining realme with OPPO, the combined share still placed them at the bottom. Excluding realme, OPPO and OnePlus together only held a 12.74% share, highlighting the widening gap with the top three brands.
The biggest surprise was the performance of Apple, with the iPhone 16 series failing to maintain its initial hype during the Golden Week and dropping to fourth place. It seems the iPhone 16 series is facing difficulties in the domestic market, potentially due to the success of Chinese brands in challenging Apple. These results suggest a significant shift in consumer preferences during the Golden Week, favoring domestic brands over Apple.
