Tech media outlet AppleInsider yesterday reported that Jeff Pu, an analyst at Haitong International, predicted in a recent investment note that Apple will launch the iPhone 17 series in 2024, including a new model named iPhone 17Slim. According to Pu, the iPhone 17Slim will feature a 6.6-inch screen and will replace the existing Plus model in the product line.
According to JeffPu's analysis, the iPhone 17Slim will have a completely new design and become the thinnest iPhone in Apple's history. The new model will be equipped with the A19 chip, built using TSMC's 3-nanometer process, offering a performance boost over the previous generation. In terms of memory, the iPhone 17Slim is expected to have 8GB of RAM, lower than the 12GB in the Pro models. To reduce costs, Apple may use aluminum for the iPhone 17Slim body, making it lighter than the titanium Pro models. However, Apple needs to design carefully to avoid bending issues due to the choice of materials.
In terms of cameras, the iPhone 17Slim will feature a single-camera design with a 48-megapixel rear camera and a 24-megapixel front camera with Face ID support.
Although the iPhone 17Slim's specifications are slightly lower than those of the Pro models, its thinner and lighter design, along with the more powerful A19 chip, may attract some users. At the same time, the lower cost may also make this new model more appealing to a wider market.
