Ming-Chi Kuo: iPhone 16 Series Orders Cut by Around 10 Million Units, Limited Impact on Apple's Q4 Revenue but Q1 2025 May Face Pressure
IT Home, October 24th - Renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo today published a note revealing that Apple has slashed orders for the iPhone 16 series by approximately 10 million units for the fourth quarter of 2024 and the first half of 2025, with the vast majority of the cuts being for non-Pro models. This news suggests that the iPhone 16 production volume has been reduced to about 84 million units in the second quarter of 2024.
However, Kuo also stated that the impact on Apple's fourth-quarter iPhone revenue will be relatively minor due to the higher gap between iPhone production and sales in last year's fourth quarter compared to this year, along with a more favorable product mix this year (with more Pro Max models being produced in September-October).
Nevertheless, Apple may face challenges in the first quarter of next year. On the one hand, the product line mix is expected to worsen due to the launch of the iPhone SE4. On the other hand, the impact of the iPhone 16 production cuts will continue to ferment. These combined factors could put pressure on Apple's iPhone revenue in the first quarter of next year.
Kuo also mentioned "Apple Intelligence" (Apple's AI). While some market participants are optimistic that Apple Intelligence could dramatically boost iPhone shipments in the short term, Apple's current order cuts may suggest that the likelihood of this optimistic expectation being realized at least in the short term is not high. Nonetheless, Kuo remains confident that Apple is the brand most likely to succeed in the device-side AI space.
Following the news of the order cuts, market attention on the iPhone 16 series has surged. Investors and analysts are actively assessing the impact of the order cuts on Apple's overall revenue and future development. At the same time, how Apple will respond to market changes and enhance the competitiveness of the iPhone 16 series has become a focal point of attention.
It is worth noting that Kuo's analytical reports are renowned for their accuracy and foresight. His insights hold significant reference value for investors and industry professionals. The release of the order cut news will undoubtedly further spark discussions and reflections on Apple's future development within the market.
