Recently, Wang Teng, General Manager of the Redmi brand, revealed on social media that Redmi has accounted for 70% of the 2K screen shipments in the Chinese smartphone market over the past three years. When combined with Xiaomi's overall share, it reaches a staggering 90%. This signifies that almost all 2K screen phones in the Chinese market are from Xiaomi.

Starting with the Redmi K50 series, Redmi has popularized 2K ultra-clear screens in the 2,000 yuan (around $280) price range. Lu Weibing, President of Xiaomi Group China, stated last year that no competitors could match Redmi's 2K screen offerings in 2022, and this trend is expected to continue in 2023. Moreover, Redmi's leading position in the 2K screen market is anticipated to remain strong even in 2024.

According to leaks, the upcoming Redmi K80 series will continue to champion the 2K screen technology, featuring a 2K straight screen. The entire Redmi K80 series has already been registered with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in China, suggesting an official launch in November. The registration information reveals that the standard K80 will support 90W wired fast charging, while the K80 Pro will boast 120W wired fast charging.

As Redmi's strongest flagship, the K80 series will be the first to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy processor. This chip utilizes the second-generation Qualcomm Oryon CPU and benefits from TSMC's second-generation 3nm fabrication process, promising remarkable performance.

It's noteworthy that while most flagship phones are experiencing price increases this year, the Redmi K80 series is also expected to see a price hike. Nonetheless, the K80 series remains highly anticipated due to its powerful specs and 2K display advantages.
