Following the addition of body temperature measurement support to the Pixel Thermometer app in the US earlier this year, Google has now expanded the feature to Europe. Users can now find a new "Body Temperature" option alongside the existing "Object Temperature" option on the Pixel Thermometer app's home screen.
During setup, users can choose to pair their temperature readings with Fitbit for logging. Google Assistant will guide users to position their phone near their forehead, then move to the left or right temple for measurement. The temperature guide also allows users to select an age range, including 3 years and older, 3-36 months, or 0-3 months. To expedite the measurement process, users can disable the option in the "Settings" menu. Additionally, users can opt to save their measurement results to the "Recent Results" page for further saving to Fitbit.
The app's user interface reportedly remains consistent with the version released last year. The feature will be available on the Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL. To use the feature, users need to have a valid SIM or eSIM issued by a carrier in a supported country. Currently supported European countries include: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
In addition to supporting the aforementioned countries, the app also offers multiple language versions, including: Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Latvian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, and Swedish.
While the support article confirms the body temperature measurement feature expansion to the Pixel Thermometer app in Europe, the functionality might not be immediately available on all European devices. The feature is expected to roll out gradually, so users may need to wait a while before they can experience it.
