Sony Unveils First "Light Legend" HDR Image Sensor: Vivo X200 Pro Rumored to Debut with New HDR Capabilities
Sony today officially launched its first image sensor with a new HDR feature the Light Legend LYT-818. The sensor boasts a large 1/1.28-inch sensor size, matching the IMX700/707, and supports features such as 86dB dynamic range in a single frame, 0.95e- signal-to-noise ratio, and real-time HDR preview.
The most notable feature of the Light Legend LYT-818 is its new HDR technology. It achieves an industry-leading 86dB dynamic range in a single frame by merging data from multiple reads using three gain settings. This means even in high-contrast scenes, more details can be captured, preventing overexposure or underexposure and delivering more natural and realistic images.
Additionally, the LYT-818 offers the following advantages:
- Night Hunter: High conversion gain enables low-noise imaging even in dim environments, capturing clear and bright photos or videos.
- HDR New Realm: 86dB HDR dynamic range in a single frame, intelligently merging multiple gains, resulting in vivid and lifelike images that accurately reproduce the scene's true colors.
- Low Power Consumption: Breaking through power consumption limitations, the real-time HDR preview function remains active, allowing users to preview HDR effects at any time during shooting.
It is reported that the Vivo X200 Pro and X200 Pro mini will be the first models to feature the Light Legend LYT-818 sensor. Based on current information, the imaging systems of these two phones will reach an extremely high level, potentially becoming a new benchmark in mobile photography.
The launch of the Sony Light Legend LYT-818 marks another milestone in mobile imaging technology. In the future, the adoption of this sensor by more smartphone manufacturers promises an even brighter era for mobile photography.
