Su Jing, CEO of Starkey Meizu, confirmed in an interview with the media today that Meizu does have plans to launch a foldable phone, and that research and development is ongoing. This news confirms previous rumors about Meizu's foldable phone and has generated new expectations in the market.

Back in March last year, Huang Zhipan, Executive Vice President of Starkey Meizu Group and CEO of Meizu brand, revealed that Meizu would be launching a foldable product by the end of the year. However, it ultimately did not materialize. Blogger @DigitalChatStation wrote in May last year that it would be difficult for Meizu to mass produce a foldable phone in the short term, mainly due to the difficulty in software adaptation and high hardware costs. In response, Huang Zhipan explained that Meizu has higher standards for foldable phones, and that the previously defined products lacked competitiveness, so they will be redefined, and the foldable product line will continue.

To achieve this goal, Meizu has applied for multiple patents for foldable phones. In July last year, Meizu's "Pop-up Mechanism and Folding Terminal" patent was published, which aims to reduce the difficulty of unfolding the folding terminal and improve ease of use.
