On October 15th, OnePlus and BOE jointly launched the new generation flagship flexible OLED panel, the second-generation Oriental Display, at the BOE Innovation Center in Beijing. This panel will be first installed on the OnePlus 13, which will be unveiled next week. Lei Technology was invited to the event, witnessing the arrival of the new Oriental Display alongside OnePlus and BOE.

2024 marks the tenth anniversary of the partnership between BOE and OPPO Group. Back in 2015, the two sides established a cooperative relationship, embarking on a decade-long journey of collaboration. Driven by their joint efforts, BOE and OPPO Group achieved record-high annual cooperation in 2024, jointly promoting advancements in display technology within the mobile sector, ultimately culminating in the creation of the second-generation Oriental Display.

Why did OnePlus choose to partner with BOE to create the "Oriental Display"? The answer is simple. Firstly, BOE has been deeply involved in the display technology field for many years, possessing multiple advanced production lines in China. According to information revealed at the launch event, BOE's first G8.6 AMOLED factory in China has been completed and is poised for operation. Secondly, OnePlus is one of the leading domestic brands that pays the most attention to display technology, consistently pushing for progress and application of features like high refresh rates, 2K screens, and eye protection technology. The "Oriental Display" is a product born from the combined strength and mutual understanding of the future needs of display technology in the mobile field.

The second-generation Oriental Display undergoes comprehensive upgrades across three key aspects: display, eye protection, and fluidity. In terms of display, it's the first OLED panel to receive DisplayMate++ certification. DisplayMate++ is a new standard built upon DisplayMate+, setting higher requirements for color accuracy, color difference, and viewing angle. The second-generation Oriental Display sets new records in 21 areas, including color accuracy, white point accuracy, brightness, and contrast, truly representing the pinnacle of display performance.

To ensure the "excellent display quality" extends beyond specific scenarios, OnePlus has also debuted the "Sunlight Display" technology. This technology significantly enhances the visibility of the second-generation Oriental Display in high-brightness environments while ensuring accurate color calibration, color deviation, and other color adjustments during brightness amplification. The technology also leverages large-scale model algorithms to improve the accuracy of environmental monitoring.

Eye protection is a critical detail in the display performance of today's smartphone market. Whether a phone screen can truly protect the eyes is a significant factor in consumer purchasing decisions. The second-generation Oriental Display introduces the new "Mingmu Eye Protection 2.0," offering a PWM + DC-like mixed dimming mode, 3Pulse and LTPO low-brightness SVM strategies, making it even more eye-friendly.

Of course, a great screen needs to be not only visually impressive and eye-protective but also smooth. OnePlus' answer to this is the DisplayP2 chip. This chip effectively manages power consumption, minimizes display lag, and allows users to perceive the smooth and natural transitions of the LTPO adaptive refresh rate, rather than abrupt drops.

Overall, the second-generation Oriental Display jointly created by OnePlus and BOE not only achieves superior display quality but also excels in eye protection, smoothness, and other new-era good screen standards, better meeting the needs of consumers. Following the event, Lei Technology also experienced the second-generation Oriental Display installed on the OnePlus 13, finding that it outperformed two competitors in terms of brightness, color accuracy, and other aspects, delivering a more transparent visual experience during video playback. The second-generation Oriental Display will be first installed on the OnePlus 13, and at the end of the launch event, Li Jie, President of OnePlus China, announced that this new device will be unveiled next week.
