Next week, Qualcomm will unveil its new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3+ processor, officially kicking off the preheating phase for new flagship smartphones from various manufacturers. Reportedly, the initial lineup of devices featuring this processor includes the Xiaomi 15 series, Honor Magic7 series, iQOO 13, OnePlus 13, and Realme GT7 Pro.

The Xiaomi 15 series will be among the first to sport the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3+ processor, with an expected launch before the end of the month. The series comprises the standard, Pro, and Ultra versions. The standard and Pro versions will house the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3+ processor, while the Ultra variant will debut as the flagship imaging device after the Chinese New Year.

According to blogger @WisdomPikachu, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will boast a rear quad-camera setup with significant upgrades. The main camera will employ a 50MP, 1-inch sensor, and the telephoto lens will be a 200MP Samsung ISOCELL HP9 periscope lens. Additionally, the device will be equipped with a 50MP ultra-wide lens and a custom portrait lens (vertical telephoto). It is claimed that the upgraded lens system will deliver more stabilized video recording performance and a more powerful master-level algorithm, resulting in clear image quality even in low-light environments.

In terms of configuration, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will adopt a 2K deep curved screen and support ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint recognition. The device will offer three material options: leather, glass fiber, and ceramic. The Xiaomi 15 standard version will feature a 1.5K flat screen, while the Pro variant will utilize a 2K fully deep curved screen. Both will adopt a centered punch-hole design, integrate 8TLTPO technology, and support adaptive refresh rate adjustment from 1 to 120Hz. It is speculated that the Xiaomi 15 series will also debut the new Huaxing C9 screen, bringing a more exceptional visual experience.

Performance-wise, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3+ processor utilizes a 2+6 core architecture, with two super-large cores clocked at 4.32GHz. Compared to the previous generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the new chip boasts a 35% increase in single-core performance and a 30% improvement in multi-core performance. Notably, while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3+ processor achieves impressive performance breakthroughs, its price has also risen accordingly. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo notes that the cost of each Snapdragon 8 Gen 3+ processor has increased by 15% compared to its predecessor. This suggests that the Xiaomi 15 series might bid farewell to the 3999 yuan price tag.

Aside from the Xiaomi 15 series, Xiaomi has recently secured a utility model patent for a smart ring. The highlight of this ring's design lies in its incorporation of an elastic motion mechanism capable of adjusting to the user's finger size, enhancing comfort. The ring integrates numerous health monitoring technologies, supporting real-time tracking of heart rate, blood oxygen levels, and other health indicators. Additionally, it incorporates processing components, memory, and various sensors, enabling diverse smart interaction capabilities.

It's noteworthy that Apple's self-driving vehicle testing permit was revoked, marking the end of its decade-long electric vehicle project. In response to this development, Xiaomi's Chairman Lei Jun stated at the 2024 World Intelligent Connected Vehicles Conference (WICV2024) that Xiaomi strives to be the most compatible car with the Apple ecosystem. He believes that from a strategic perspective, "human-vehicle-home full ecosystem" encompassing cars and travel scenarios is an indispensable component of the closed ecosystem. Previously, Xiaomi Group President Lu Weibing disclosed that the Xiaomi 15 series will leverage the Pengpai OS 2.0 system and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3+ processor to deliver an "human-vehicle-home" full ecosystem AI experience.
