Apple has announced a new service program for certain iPhone 14 Plus models experiencing rear camera issues. Affected users can have their devices checked and repaired for free.
Apple's website states: "iPhone 14 Plus Service Program for Rear Camera Issues - Apple has determined that a very small percentage of iPhone 14 Plus devices may experience a rear camera that does not show a preview. Affected devices were manufactured between April 10, 2023 and April 28, 2024."
This rear camera preview issue was discovered after the release of the iPhone 14 Plus. As the iPhone 14 Plus is a niche model and the issue affects only a small number of devices, it didn't attract widespread attention.
In response, Apple states that users who believe their phone is affected can visit Apple's website and enter their device's serial number to check its manufacturing date. If the device was manufactured between April 10, 2023 and April 28, 2024, Apple will offer free inspection and repair services.
Additionally, Apple states that users who have already paid for repairs due to this issue can apply for a refund. Apple will cover the repair costs and refund users after verifying their service eligibility.
Apple emphasizes that this service program covers eligible iPhone 14 Plus phones for 3 years from the original purchase date. Considering that the iPhone 14 Plus was released in September 2022, this means all iPhone 14 Plus devices currently on the market produced during the affected period are eligible for this service program.
This move by Apple aims to address user concerns and ensure the quality and reliability of its products. Users can visit Apple's official website or contact Apple support for more detailed information.
