Apple Plans to Launch Smart Home Products Including Cameras to Build a More Complete HomeKit Ecosystem
Mark Gurman of Bloomberg published a blog post today reporting that Apple plans to launch smart home products, including cameras, next year. These products will be deeply integrated with Apple's HomeKit smart home platform and will work in conjunction with the smart home "command center" currently under development.
According to Gurman, Apple may be developing an indoor security camera that can also be used as a baby monitor. This aligns with reports from Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who believes that Apple plans to begin production of this smart home camera in 2026 and expects to sell "tens of millions" of units over the longer term. The camera will feature wireless connectivity and deep integration with Apple intelligence and Siri, offering users a more convenient operating experience.
In addition to cameras, Apple is planning to launch an iPad-like smart home display in March 2025. This device will serve as a central hub for smart home control, enabling users to run applications and control HomeKit and Matter-based accessories. This means users can easily manage all their smart home devices through this display, enjoying a smarter and more convenient living experience.
Apple has been committed to building a more complete and intelligent smart home ecosystem. In recent years, Apple has continuously launched new HomeKit devices and functionalities to enhance the user's smart home experience. For example, the HomePod mini 2nd generation smart speaker, launched this year, boasts more powerful audio capabilities and Matter protocol support, offering users a richer smart home connectivity experience.
Apple's plan to introduce cameras and other smart home products will undoubtedly further refine its HomeKit ecosystem, bringing users richer smart home experiences. As Matter protocol gains wider adoption, Apple's smart home products will be seamlessly connected with smart home devices from other brands, offering users a more convenient and intelligent smart home life.
It is important to note that Apple has not yet released any official statements regarding this news. However, with Apple's increasing focus on the smart home domain, we can expect to see more news regarding Apple's smart home products soon.
