ColorOS 14 & 15 Feature Guide: Lunar Calendar Display, Free Floating Window, Smart Voice, and Battery Health Settings
OPPO recently released a FAQ addressing common issues with ColorOS 14 and ColorOS 15, covering feature optimization, bug fixes, usage guidance, and user suggestions. This article highlights frequently asked questions, including displaying the lunar calendar on the lock screen, always-on display, and home screen; disabling simplified mode for the free floating window; using smart voice transcription; checking battery health; customizing the desktop clock widget; and explaining bypass charging.
I. How to Display the Lunar Calendar on the Always-on Display, Lock Screen, and Home Screen?
Many users want to display the lunar calendar date on their phone's always-on display, lock screen, and home screen. OPPO's ColorOS offers settings for this, but the paths differ slightly between ColorOS 14 and ColorOS 15.
1. Always-on Display Lunar Calendar:
- ColorOS 15: Go to "Settings" > "Wallpaper & Personalization" > tap the currently used theme > on the lock screen edit page > tap the time box > "Additional Information" > select "Lunar Date" > "Apply".
- ColorOS 14: Go to "Settings" > "Wallpaper & Personalization" > "Always-on Display" > turn on the always-on display > "More Display Settings" > "Additional Information" > select "Lunar Calendar".
2. Lock Screen Lunar Calendar:
- ColorOS 15: Go to "Settings" > "Wallpaper & Personalization" > tap the currently used theme > on the lock screen edit page > tap the time box > "Additional Information" > select "Lunar Date" > "Apply".
- ColorOS 14: Go to "Settings" > "Home Screen & Lock Screen" > "Display Lunar Calendar".
3. Home Screen Lunar Calendar:
Currently, ColorOS 14 and ColorOS 15 don't directly support displaying the lunar calendar on the unlocked home screen. However, users can achieve a similar effect using a clock widget. Long press on an empty space on the home screen > "Widgets" > scroll to the bottom and select a calendar widget that includes lunar calendar information.
II. How to Disable Simplified Mode for the Free Floating Window?
ColorOS 15 updates the free floating window feature, upgrading "Simplified Mode" to "Floating Window Mode" with button and gesture controls. Go to "Settings" > "Accessibility" > "Free Floating Window" > "Floating Window Mode" to switch.
After upgrading to ColorOS 15:
- If Simplified Mode was previously enabled, gesture mode for Floating Window Mode will be automatically enabled.
- If Simplified Mode was not previously enabled, button mode will be automatically enabled.
For ColorOS 14, Simplified Mode hides the full-screen button in the upper left corner and the close button in the upper right corner of the floating window. Double-clicking the top handle closes the window. To disable this, go to "Settings" > "Accessibility" > "Free Floating Window" and turn off Simplified Mode.
III. How to Use Smart Voice Transcription?
ColorOS's Smart Voice function provides real-time transcription and translation during calls, meetings, and videos.
While using a third-party app for calls, meetings, videos, or online classes, swipe in from the side to open the Smart Sidebar, tap "Smart Voice" > "Turn on Captions". Tap the language icon in the upper right corner to adjust the source language and translation settings.
IV. How to Check Battery Health?
Battery health reflects battery degradation. A higher number indicates better battery condition. Above 80% usually signifies good performance, but even below 80%, the battery should function normally. For optimal performance, consider visiting an OPPO service center for a check. If your phone is under warranty and shows no external damage, battery replacement might be free.
Check battery health at: "Settings" > "Battery" > "Battery Health" > "Maximum Battery Capacity".
V. How to Customize the Desktop Clock Widget Style?
Customize the desktop clock widget by using a two-finger pinch-to-zoom gesture on the home screen to enter edit mode. Tap "Widgets" at the bottom to access the widget center and select a clock widget.
To change an existing clock widget, long-press the widget and tap "Replace" to choose a different style.
VI. Does My Phone Support Bypass Charging?
Currently, bypass charging is only supported on the OnePlus Ace5 Pro. Due to hardware limitations, other models do not currently support this feature. Please stay tuned for updates from OPPO.
This guide details how to use several practical features in ColorOS 14 and ColorOS 15, helping users better utilize their OPPO phones.
