Xiaomi's 2024 Spring Product Launch: Xiaomi 15 Ultra and SU7 Ultra Lead the Charge, Alongside a Stunning Array of Smart Home Products
On February 27th, at 7:00 PM, Xiaomi held a grand product launch event, unveiling its flagship Xiaomi 15 Ultra and Xiaomi SU7 Ultra smartphones, along with the Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro earphones, the Redmi Book Pro 2025 laptop, and numerous new smart home products. In the pre-launch hype, Lei Jun stated that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra and SU7 Ultra represent Xiaomi's most premium offerings in its fifteen-year history, marking the company's official entry into the ultra-high-end market. So, how did Xiaomi's launch event fare? Let's delve into the details.
I. Xiaomi 15 Ultra: Imaging Flagship, Reaching New Heights
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra, Xiaomi's new flagship phone, took center stage at the launch. While there were numerous leaks and pre-launch teasers, the detailed presentation at the event was still impressive. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra's appearance differs only slightly from its predecessor, the 14 Ultra. It retains the 6.73-inch curved screen and the circular camera module design on the back. However, closer inspection reveals subtle adjustments to the camera module. The 14 Ultra featured four centrally symmetrical cameras with the Leica logo in the center and the flash below. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra, on the other hand, positions the periscope telephoto lens in the upper right corner, with the remaining three lenses arranged horizontally below, the Leica logo moved to the upper left, and the flash centrally located above.
Beyond the subtle aesthetic differences, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra boasts significant screen improvements. Featuring TCL Huaxing C9 luminescent material, it offers a 522 PPI pixel density, 3200x1440 resolution, LTPO 1~120Hz adaptive refresh rate, 3200 nits peak brightness, 100% P3 wide color gamut, full-screen always-on display, professional original color screen, Xiaomi multi-screen same color, ultra-dynamic display, ambient color temperature sensing, and has passed triple eye protection certification. The phone also incorporates Dragon Crystal Glass 2.0, ultrasonic fingerprint recognition, and IP68 dust and water resistance.
To easily distinguish it from its predecessor, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is available in classic black and white, as well as new colors: classic black silver and pine green. These color schemes draw inspiration from the Leica M-series cameras, enhancing the retro camera feel, especially when the phone is held horizontally. The upper left corner of the back panel also features an exclusive "Ultra" badge, inspired by the rangefinder viewfinder of a camera.
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra also boasts comprehensive upgrades in its specifications. It features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy processor, a newly debuted "dual-channel wing-shaped annular cold pump" cooling system, and a USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface. While it still uses a 90W wired fast charging + 80W wireless fast charging combination, the battery capacity is increased to 6000mAh, utilizing a 10% ultra-high silicon content "strongest Xiaomi Jinshajiang battery," supported by the Surge G2 and P3 chips. In terms of communication, it integrates "Xiaomi Starlink Communication," featuring a high-performance antenna array with a three-chip design (two T1S and one T1), supporting 7km off-grid calls and featuring Beidou/GPS dual-satellite communication, with the world's first phone-to-satellite direct data connection capability, offering both single and dual satellite versions.
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra also includes an upgraded "Professional Imaging Kit," comprising a detachable metal grip, a replaceable shutter button, a built-in 2000mAh battery, and IP54 dust and water resistance. The kit is available in gold grey and a legendary collector's edition.
The imaging system is the core strength of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, codenamed "Night God," featuring a quad-camera setup with dual telephoto lenses: a 1-inch super-large sensor main camera, an ultra-wide-angle lens, a portrait telephoto lens, and a periscope telephoto lens. The 1-inch super-large sensor main camera boasts 3.2m ultra-large pixels and an f/1.63 large aperture, representing Xiaomi's largest light-gathering main camera lens to date. The 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens utilizes a 1/1.4-inch main camera-grade super-large sensor with an f/2.6 large aperture, 2.24m four-in-one ultra-large pixels, and a 9.4mm equivalent focal length, supporting 200mm and 400mm lossless zoom.
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra also debuts Leica's Ultra-Pure Optical System, which has been completely upgraded from optical path design to optical components, including Leica ultra-low reflection lens glass, a new filter, ultra-lens material, pyramid coating, and Corning GG7i glass scratch-resistant coating, achieving high-fidelity optical imaging "end-to-end."
For video recording, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is the first in the Android camp to launch ACES LOG cinematic video, boasting cinematic-quality color reproduction and Xiaomi's self-developed UIS video stabilization system, supporting unlimited 8K video recording across all focal lengths.
Additionally, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra features an AI dynamic portrait wallpaper, full interoperability with the Apple ecosystem, a new local area network file transfer function for different accounts, enabling file and photo transfer with iPhone/iPad/Mac, and support for Apple office suites.
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is offered in four versions: 12GB+256GB at 6499, 16GB+512GB at 6999, 16GB+1TB at 7799, and 16GB+1TB (dual-satellite version) at 7999. The professional imaging kit retails at 999, with a bundled price of 699.
II. Redmi Book Pro 2025: AI Workhorse, Powerful Performance
Following the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, the Redmi Book Pro 2025 was unveiled, available in 16-inch and 14-inch versions. As Xiaomi's first AI professional laptop, the 16-inch version debuts with the second-generation Intel Core Ultra processor (i5-13500HX and i7-13700HX), boasting up to 96 TOPS of AI computing power, a 150% increase in platform AI performance. Cooling is handled by a dual-fan, triple-heat-pipe design, enabling 80W full-machine performance release. It features 32GB LPDDR5X 8400MT/s memory and a 1TB SSD as standard. It houses a 99Wh large-capacity battery, compliant with airline carry-on standards, in a 15.9mm-thin chassis. The screen is a 3.1K 16-inch LCD with a 165Hz high refresh rate and Xiaomi's QingShan eye protection technology. Notably, it debuts "Xiaomi AIPC engine," supporting file transfer with Apple devices.
16-inch version pricing: i5-13500HX version, 32GB+1TB, 6499 (national subsidy price 5199.2); i7-13700HX version, 32GB+1TB, 7499 (national subsidy price 5999.2).
The 14-inch version features a 2.8K 120Hz high refresh rate screen, an 80Wh battery, and 70W full-machine performance release. III. Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro: Audio Flagship, A Listening Feast
Two and a half years after the release of its predecessor, the Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro finally arrived. This in-ear earphone features a familiar design and comes in snow white and titanium gold. Officially dubbed Xiaomi's "strongest TWS earphones ever," the Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro is the first in the industry to feature a dual-amplifier, three-unit acoustic system with a coaxial three-unit design, significantly reducing sound distortion, and supporting 55dB deep noise cancellation.
