On October 30th, it was reported that recently, Yufeng Future's independently developed 2-ton eVTOL (Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing Vehicle) M1 first aircraft successfully completed its maiden flight in Shanghai, and airworthiness related work is also progressing in an orderly manner.

The first successful M1 aircraft of this first flight adopts a composite wing configuration scheme, with 20 rotors, a maximum load capacity of 500 kilograms, a seating capacity of 5 people, a cruising speed of 200 kilometers/hour, and a designed range of 250 kilometers. In the future, it will mainly be used to meet the demand for short distance air travel within and between cities, reducing the 2-3 hour drive distance to about 30 minutes.

After the successful first flight, the M1 officially became China's first independently developed and domestically produced 2-ton electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft, achieving localization in all three core links of electric system, flight control system, and composite materials, marking a milestone breakthrough for Chinese enterprises in the global eVTOL track of "nationwide production".

Previously, Yufeng Future officially released the design plan for the manned eVTOLM1 in September 2022, and the first M1 aircraft was officially taken offline from the factory by the end of March 2023.

After six months of various system testing and full aircraft level testing optimization, the Yufeng Future team has overcome many technical challenges, and M1 officially began its first round of flight testing in September 2023. In over 30 days, we have rapidly advanced and completed multiple major testing projects, including full power ground testing, electromagnetic compatibility testing, full power air testing, aerodynamic servo elasticity testing, power system failure mode testing, hover test flight, low-speed flight test flight, and successfully made our first flight.

Xie Ling, founder and CEO of Yufeng Future, stated that the M1 first flight has successfully verified our previous judgment on China's new energy technology and industry chain: China's rapid development and iteration of battery, motor, and electronic control technology are fully capable of supporting China's and even global future aviation electrification development. We are fully capable of keeping the core industry chain of eVTOL in China, and have also strengthened Yufeng's confidence in independent research and development and domestic supply chain in the future. The application of new energy technology in the aviation industry will inevitably bring a more profound revolution than in the automotive field. I hope that this revolution in the electrification of general aviation can change the current situation where the traditional aviation industry in China heavily relies on foreign aircraft models and supply chains.
