Huawei's Tri-Folding Phone Design Unveiled, Honor CEO Responds to "Plagiarism" Controversy
The design of Huawei's upcoming tri-folding phone, set to launch on September 10th, has been officially revealed, sparking widespread attention. At the IFA Berlin exhibition, Honor CEO Zhao Ming responded to media inquiries regarding the striking resemblance between the Huawei tri-folding phone and the Honor MagicV3, addressing accusations of plagiarism.
Zhao Ming stated that the issue was "hard to say" since all of Honor's designs were finalized over a year ago. He claimed that he only learned about the Huawei phone after being informed by the media, even joking "I thought someone photoshopped our design onto theirs." When questioned about whether Honor had obtained design plans from Huawei, Zhao Ming replied that he "hasn't been back to Songshan Lake in many years, and nobody has invited me back." He vehemently denied the accusations of Huawei plagiarizing Honor, stating that the claims were "all nonsense," even suggesting that "Honor could also send them a lawyer's letter."
Beyond the official promotional video, Yu Chengdong was also spotted using the new tri-folding phone on a plane, marking its first public appearance. Images circulating online reveal a remarkably large screen when the device is unfolded. The leftmost third of the screen appears to be displaying WeChat, while the rightmost two-thirds showcase another application. A punch-hole cutout can be seen at the top of the leftmost screen, and the protective case for the rightmost screen seems to include a stylus.
The official release date for the Huawei tri-folding phone is rapidly approaching. Whether this device will truly excel and gain market recognition remains to be seen, but the unveiling has undoubtedly generated significant interest in the smartphone market. The launch is likely to fuel further discussions about the future of foldable phone technology.
