Apple has officially discontinued the unpopular FineWoven material, no longer offering new cases using this leather alternative. The company has also removed existing FineWoven iPhone cases from its website, although FineWoven versions of the MagSafe Wallet and AirTag keychain remain on sale.
The iPhone 15 Pro FineWoven cases faced criticism for their inferior performance compared to the leather cases Apple previously offered. Last year, Apple replaced the leather cases in a bid to be more environmentally friendly, but people quickly discovered that the FineWoven cases would get dirty and begin to wear out quickly. No replacement for the FineWoven material was offered, and Apple did not provide leather cases or any comparable alternative.
For the iPhone 16 series, users will have the option of silicone or clear cases. Silicone cases come in a variety of new colors, including Magenta, Cerulean, Tangerine, and Teal, and are sized to fit each new iPhone model.
