This morning, Xiaomi officially kicked off the pre-heating for the Xiaomi 15, a highly anticipated phone that boasts the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor and the debut of Surge OS 2, captivating the attention of many.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is built using TSMC's second-generation 3nm process, featuring a dual ultra-large core design and boasts a PC-level powerful architecture. Lei Jun stated that this processor is not only powerful, but also possesses unbelievable energy efficiency. It's reported that the Oryon CPU in Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 boasts the highest frequency in mobile platforms, with its two super cores increasing from the previous 3.3GHz to a whopping 4.32GHz, an improvement of approximately 31%. The performance core frequency also sees an upgrade from 3.2GHz to 3.53GHz, a 10% improvement.
Beyond changes in core architecture, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 also features optimized cache configuration. The two super cores share 12MB L2 cache, while the six performance cores share 12MB L2 cache, resulting in a maximum total cache of 24MB. It also supports LPDDR5x memory with a frequency of up to 5.3GHz.
In addition to the powerful processor, the Xiaomi 15 also debuts with Surge OS 2, featuring a new core system - XiaomiHyperCore. Lu Weibing introduced that Xiaomi established a dedicated team composed of over 3,000 engineers, who classified and identified over 25,000 scenarios, meticulously tackling them one by one to develop XiaomiHyperCore.
