Google Maps Announces Update: Add a Series of AI Features to Support "Immersive View"

On October 26th, IT Home announced that Google Maps App will receive a series of feature updates, including new artificial intelligence (AI) features, navigation improvements, and more.

In a blog article, the company emphasized the new map features and changes that will be launched in the coming months.

It is said that the new version of Google Maps will combine AI to bring users more accurate search results. It will also display photo results based on images shared by other users. For example, searching for "Animal Latte", "Finding the Best Animal Latte Art", or "Taking a Dog to a Pumpkin Field" will yield the most direct priority results. Google stated that these results were identified based on billions of photos analyzed by the Google Maps community.

This new feature will be launched this week in France, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States, and will gradually expand to more countries and regions in the future.

In addition, Google has made a lot of preparations for car maps to better provide navigation for drivers.

Simply put, Google will use various colors to depict buildings and help drivers locate them accurately. It also provides more detailed lane information to help drivers efficiently and safely plan lane changes, especially on highways.

In the United States, Google has also added data related to HOV (High Occupancy Vehicle) lanes to help better plan routes.

IT Home has noticed that Google will also use AI to expand its support for speed limit information to help drivers maintain the correct driving speed. Both of these features will be launched on Android, iOS, and Google enabled cars in the coming months.

Starting from this week, electric vehicles equipped with Google's built-in features can also see information related to charging stations, including charging interface compatibility, charging speed, and whether the charging station is occupied.

Google has announced the launch of immersive view functionality for Android and iOS in Amsterdam, Barcelona, Dublin, Florence, Las Vegas, London, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Paris, San Francisco, San Jose, Seattle, Tokyo, and Venice.
