According to the latest report from Canalys, global smartphone shipments grew by 5% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2024, marking the fourth consecutive quarter of growth. Apple's performance was particularly impressive, with a market share of 18%, securing the second position.

Canalys analyst Runar Bjrhovde noted that Apple's shipments reached a new record high for the third quarter, bringing it closer than ever to the top spot in global shipments. The strong demand for the iPhone 15 series and continued popularity of older models were key drivers for Apple's success.

In addition to the iPhone 15 series' popularity, the rapid penetration of AI phones is also a significant factor driving market growth. A joint report by MediaTek and Counterpoint, released in May 2024, titled "Generative AI Smartphone Industry White Paper," showed that the stock of generative AI phones will grow from a few million units in 2023 to 1.23 billion units in 2027, with penetration increasing from less than 1% in 2023 to 43% in 2027, representing a CAGR of approximately 187%.

A research report from Huatai Securities suggests that all recent iPhone models are equipped with hardware capabilities to support AppleIntelligence and are expected to be implemented gradually. From the current standpoint, attention should be directed toward the NPI of the iPhone 17 series in 2025, anticipating further hardware innovations.

• Luxshare Precision is a key supplier of wireless charging transmitters and core assembler for AirPods and Lighting cables for Apple. The company expects Q3 earnings to reach 8.849 billion to 9.218 billion yuan, representing a year-on-year growth of 20% to 25%.

• Crystal Optoelectronics primarily collaborates with Apple on consumer electronics products. Its infrared cut-off filters, narrowband filters, and optical thin film panels are used in Apple's consumer electronics products.
