Cailian News Agency, June 8th (Editor Xia Junxiong)On Wednesday (June 7, local time), the Netherlands Data Protection Agency (DPA) said that it was concerned about the use of personal data by AI developers, and had sent a letter to Science and technology in the United States company OpenAI, asking the company to provide more information.

At the end of November last year, OpenAI launched the Chatbot ChatGPT. It took only two months to harvest more than 100 million users and become the fastest growing consumer application in history.

As a phenomenon level application, ChatGPT has attracted numerous technology companies to enter the AI field, which has raised concerns among regulatory agencies. Governments around the world are exploring how to regulate this emerging technology.

DPA stated on Wednesday that it will focus on how organizations using generative AI handle personal information and will take various actions in the future. As a first step, the organization has written to OpenAI requesting clarification on some matters related to ChatGPT.

DPA revealed that it is seeking to understand how OpenAI collects data for creating ChatGPT and how to store data, including information collected from user issues.

People are increasingly concerned about the potential risks of AI, with some experts warning that AI may pose a risk of extinction for humans. However, given the current level of AI, regulatory agencies in various countries are more concerned about whether this technology will infringe on citizens' privacy and may be used by malicious individuals to create a large amount of false information.

At the end of March this year, the Italian Data Protection Agency (Garante) launched an investigation into OpenAI on suspicion of violating data collection rules, blocked ChatGPT, and restricted OpenAI from processing Italian user data. After responding to regulatory requirements for rectification, ChatGPT resumed services in Italy at the end of April.

Italy was the first Western European country to ban ChatGPT, and its measures have sparked interest from other privacy regulatory agencies in Europe. Germany, France, and Spain have considered whether stricter measures are needed against ChatGPT.
