The first power Hongmeng OS in China: China Southern Power Grid and Huawei Launch the Hongmeng IoT Operating System

On November 1st, IT Home reported that on October 31st, the "Dianhong IoT Operating System Press Conference" jointly organized by China Southern Power Grid Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Southern Power Grid Company") and the Open Atom Open Source Foundation, organized by Southern Power Grid Digital Grid Research Institute Co., Ltd., and co organized by Huawei Technology Co., Ltd. was held at the Beijing National Convention Center, and the first domestic power IoT operating system (Dianhong Meng OS) was released.

It is reported that previously, domestic IoT operating systems exhibited a "fragmented" feature with multiple types, inconsistent protocols, specifications, and security, single business and scenario, and did not support multi-services, data sharing, and plug and play.

For the first time, Power Hongmeng OS has implemented a system that covers different types and brands of power equipment, achieving device plug and play and massive data interconnection. It provides a set of power IoT operating system for the access, operation and maintenance of large-scale IoT equipment in future new power systems, filling the domestic gap in this field.

Southern Power Grid Corporation stated that Power Hongmeng OS can be applied to various aspects of power production such as "generation, transmission, transformation, distribution, and utilization". For example, the integration of new energy into the power grid involves massive data analysis and processing. After monitoring and collecting data at power equipment terminals, the data can be exchanged on the network through a unified communication protocol, effectively improving data processing capabilities and maintaining a dynamic balance between electricity consumption and generation.

The promotion and use of Electric Power Hongmeng OS will reduce the burden on grassroots operation and maintenance personnel. Taking equipment system upgrades as an example, with the maintainable and measurable capabilities of Electric Power Hongmeng OS, operators can directly and remotely upgrade equipment in batches through the control platform. The average upgrade time is reduced from 3 hours to 20 minutes, greatly improving efficiency and safety.

IT Home learned from the press conference that more than 100 partners have joined the Dianhong IoT industry chain ecosystem, covering mainstream domestic chip, module, and terminal manufacturers. It is expected that the industry chain will expand to more than 900 subcategories of equipment by the end of 2024, achieving full coverage of 1.35 million IoT terminals in the transmission, transformation, and distribution field. By the end of 2025, the coverage terminal scale can exceed 100 million.
