IT Home reported on October 18th that Microsoft has recently started inviting some members of the Windows Insider project,Test the offline functionality of the Win11 system Outlook application.

The new version of Outlook started beta testing in May 2022, based on Outlook.com and Microsoft Edge WebView, and was launched on the Win11 platform in September of this year.

The new version of Outlook is network based and cannot be used normally when disconnected from the network. Microsoft has recently invited users to test the offline features of the new version of Outlook, allowing them to run some functions such as calendars without a network connection.

According to the Microsoft 365 roadmap, Microsoft is testing the offline functionality of the new version of Outlook, allowing users to access email, calendar entries, and contacts without a valid internet connection, which will appear in the form of a ServiceWorker.

IT Home Note: ServiceWorker is between web applications and the Internet, retrieving data and files from certain pages in Outlook. When you are online, the service will remember some data and files for you. When you try to access a web application without an internet connection, ServiceWorker can access cached data and files.

Microsoft pointed out that offline support will also cover other core email functions, such as marking emails, transferring them to different folders, and deleting them.
