On October 25, it was reported that in order to cope with the extreme traffic peak of live broadcast seckill, Kwai Container Cloud and Alibaba Cloud created a hybrid cloud elastic scheduling architecture. Recently, it was the first large-scale application to successfully support the computing resource demand of millions of level flash sales.
According to public data, Kwai currently has an average of 376 million daily active users, 673 million monthly active users, more than 31.1 billion pairs of cross related users, and 8 billion daily interactions (including likes, comments, and forwarding). In order to support such a huge user scale and business scale, Kwai has established many huge data centers and massive server clusters to carry hundreds of millions of users' access every day.
It is reported that live broadcasting has become the biggest technical challenge of Kwai, and the technical challenge of live broadcast seckill is particularly prominent, which is characterized by a large amount of concurrency. During the seckill activity, a large number of users will access the Kwai e-commerce platform at the same time, which puts forward high requirements for the concurrent processing capability of the system. Especially for anchors with over a billion followers, a single flash sale product in the live broadcast room may reach millions, with a maximum flash sale request of millions per second. The ordering transaction link system also supports concurrency of millions per second.
For this reason, the Kwai technology system adopts a distributed system architecture and builds an elastic container cloud platform, which can automatically expand and shrink container instances according to business needs to meet business needs in high concurrency and high traffic scenarios. By using the elastic container cloud, Kwai can quickly expand the container instance during the fast kill to cope with the sudden increase in traffic and requests. When traffic and requests decrease, the elastic container cloud can automatically shrink container instances to save resource costs.
It is reported that the Kwai container cloud platform has built a hybrid cloud architecture of Kwai IDC+Alibaba Cloud, which connects the networks of both sides through dedicated lines, and uses Alibaba Cloud's rich product capabilities and flexibility advantages to "cut peak and fill valley" business, providing strong support for the flexibility and expansion of Kwai containers.
During the Kwai promotion, this hybrid cloud architecture was first applied on a large scale. When the actual peak traffic reached one million requests per second during the second kill, the system indicators were stable, the system was 100% available, and successfully passed the Kwai promotion test.
