On Saturday, May 15th, local time, Linda Yaccarino, the new CEO of social media company Twitter, stated that she is encouraged by Elon Musk's vision of creating a better future and is excited to help transform this social media platform.

This is the first time that Yakarino has spoken publicly since it was revealed last Thursday that she is in talks to become Twitter's next CEO. After acquiring Twitter for $44 billion in October last year, Musk himself has been serving as Twitter's CEO. Afterwards, he repeatedly stated his intention to find a new leader for Twitter. On Friday, Musk officially announced the appointment of Yakarino as Twitter's CEO.

Jakarino tweeted, "Musk's vision of creating a brighter future has always inspired me. I am delighted to help bring this vision to Twitter and drive business transformation together

Yakarino was once the advertising director of NBCUniversal, a subsidiary of media and telecommunications giant Comcast, and spent several years modernizing the company's advertising business. She expressed her commitment to advancing the future of Twitter and emphasized that user feedback is crucial for building Twitter 2.0.

At the moment when Yakarino takes over Twitter, the platform is working hard to reverse the unfavorable situation of plummeting advertising revenue and carrying a heavy debt burden.

Since Musk acquired Twitter, the company has laid off nearly 80% of its employees. Due to concerns about potential negative content next to advertisements, advertisers are fleeing Twitter. Earlier this year, Musk also acknowledged a significant decline in Twitter advertising revenue.

Musk once stated that he wants to develop a platform that can provide various services such as peer-to-peer payments. Although he emphasized that Jakarino will help create such a "versatile application," choosing a senior advertising industry figure as CEO will continue to make digital advertising the core business of Twitter.

Musk is also the CEO of electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla. Last Friday, he announced that appointing Yakarino as Twitter's new CEO would allow him to devote more time to Tesla. (Chen Chen)
